Group Offerings

Healing happens in connection.

Transcending Group Therapy

Transcending is a 12-week virtual Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) program for gender diverse people. Led by Foria’s resident counsellor and our mental health nurse, participants will explore the effects of transphobia on mental health and develop skills to live authentically.

This group is open to residents of Alberta and Ontario aged 16 and over.

Narrative Group Therapy

Built upon narrative practices and principles, this group is a supportive and creative space to explore and share life stories. Through a series of structured virtual therapy sessions, participants engage in a meaningful process that combines independent writing with thoughtful group sharing. The focus is on your personal journey, supported by a safe environment where you can collaborate with your therapist and fellow group members in a community built on trust and respect.

This group is open to residents of Ontario, Alberta, and British Columbia aged 16 and over.

Group Voice Training

Embark on a transformative journey with Voice Forward, a 6 session program over 12 weeks designed for trans, non-binary, and gender diverse individuals seeking to align their voice with their authentic selves. Through a blend of biofeedback, mindfulness, and targeted vocal exercises, we'll explore and refine key aspects of voice modification, including resonance, pitch, intonation, breath support, and articulation.

This group is open to residents aged 16 and over from all Canadian provinces and territories, excluding Quebec. You can join a group based on your goals and starting point – masculine starting voice with desired androgynous/feminine outcome or feminine starting voice with desired androgynous/masculine outcome.

Surgery Support Groups

Foria’s surgery groups offer support for individuals preparing for, recovering from, or adjusting after surgery. While our Surgical Assessment appointments help clarify surgical options, request funding approvals, and arrange referrals, these groups provide more time to learn in depth about what to expect from surgery and how to manage recovery.

Our first groups will be:

  • Preparing for Chest Surgery – for people planning to have chest masculinization within the next 1-2 years

  • Preparing for Vaginoplasty – for people planning to have vaginoplasty within the next 1-2 years

  • Recovering from Chest Surgery – for people who have recently had surgery, or will have had surgery by Spring or Summer 2026

  • Recovering from Vaginoplasty – for people who have recently had surgery, or will have had surgery by Spring or Summer 2026

These groups are open to residents of Ontario aged 16 and over. Participants will benefit from shared understanding, psychoeducation, and discussion by a nurse practitioner and a facilitator with lived experience. This is a pilot program, and is free of charge to join.
